David Miliband: conversations with the people of Wales

Have you ever wanted to ask the Foreign Secretary about our foreign policy, how it works and what it means for you in Wales? Now is your opportunity! We are inviting you to ask David Miliband direct.

David is visiting Cardiff on 16-17 October. He will meet a wide range of people from different Cardiff communities. He will talk to them about how foreign policy issues such as climate change, migration, trade-investment and international conflicts are not just foreign policy issues, but have an affect on our daily lives. He will hear from these groups what foreign policy means to them and the impact these challenges are having on these communities.

- Are you affected by these global issues?
- Are you worried about the impact of global trends on your community?
- Would you like to know how the work of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office affects Wales?
- Have you always wanted to comment on an aspect of our Foreign policy?

If so, now is your opportunity to ask and comment to David direct!
During the next week, he invites you to put your questions on these and other related foreign policy issues to him via Yoosk.  And he will respond to your questions on this site.

What do I need to do to ask a question?

Click on the picture of the Foreign Secretary below and it will take you a new page where you can submit your question.

You decide what’s most important

Yoosk has a feature that allows you to add your voice to other people’s queries by clicking on the button to the right of each question. So if you also want to hear the answer to other questions that have been posted, just click and add your support.

David will use the score next to each question as a guide to people’s strength of feeling when he starts to answer questions. He might not be able to answer all your questions but you will be the ones deciding which are the most important and he’ll definitely answer the highest ranked questions.

What happens after the Foreign Secretary answers?

You can let David know what you think of his replies by commenting under each answer. You can also rate his answers and his interview performance and ask him follow up questions, although David cannot guarantee to answer these.

Show more »Why does the FCO remain a nameless and faceless organisation in which people from this bureacratic organisation make visa application decisions without any contact to the sponsoring British Citizen born and resident in the UK.
I submitted my full UK contact details to the FCO bureacrats in Indonesia in my support and complete sponsorship for a visit/tourist visa application for a 3 month visit to the UK for an Indonesian citizen. This application was refused based on incorrect and discriminatory attitudes and biased opinions of the ECO/ECM and despite my escalation to the FCO for names and contact details of the decision makers, I have received nothing but stonewalling from the FCO.
Mr Milliband I shall be forwarding my FCO correspondence for your direct review and your procrastination or refusal to review this FCO impasse and pettyness is not acceptable.
I await your email response before I haul the FCO to court for breaching my European Court of Human Rights.
