Adding Yoosk’s widgets and apps to your website
If you regularly publish stories or blog about political topics or public figures then why not add the Yoosk widget to your site so your audience can:
- Directly ask questions of public figures.
- Browse other Yoosk users’ questions and vote on the ones they want to see answered.
- Rate the interview performance of public figures.
Let’s say that you have a regular page dedicated to news or comment about particular public figures. It could be a news site, a blog, a fan site, the main site for a pressure group or any other web based media site that writes about or reports on people in the news.
Simply embed the Yoosk widget for the public figure you’d like to hold to account onto your pages using the code below and your readers will be able to ask them questions, see other questions put to them and rate the person concerned all without leaving your site.
To create a public figure widget such as the one above for your site, the person you want to ask a question must already be on our database – you simply create a widget. If you would like to create a widget for somebody who is not yet in our database, simply send a message to: development@yoosk.com and we will be very happy to add that person.
Seamless user registration and synchronized access for your users:
If you'd like to use our Widget and want your users in your site or community to seamlessly access the Yoosk service then you can do so using our Single Sign On technology (SOO).
The Yoosk SSO model allows you to deploy a small piece of code that passes a unique identifier for each of your users to the Yoosk Widget preserving your privacy terms and allowing the user to feel that Yoosk is a seamless extension to your site. As a result, your users will not need to register with Yoosk or login, they are automatically registered and logged in behind the scenes in a secure and silent manner. For more details on these SSO model please download our API and SSO technical paper.
As well as running a widget in your own site we can also offer our SSO partners their own branded Channel in the Yoosk network such that they can reach a wider audience and have a totally integrated approach to the questioning of Public Figures.
If any of this sounds like an attractive idea for your project, business or site then we’d love to hear from you. Just email us at development@yoosk.com with some basic details of who you are and what you are looking to do and we'll get right back with details as to next steps.
Making your own Widgets or Applications - why not use the Yoosk API?
If you are looking to create your own application or need a custom widget rather than using one of ours then we now offer a full Widget API you can access.
Over the next weeks we intend to add a bunch of documentation and share our plans openly here with those interested in mashable, accountability networks. To kick things off, if you are developing applications then please think about using our API to bring a little Yoosk into your App's. The full list of methods currently on offer can be found in our API and SSO technical paper.
We know that its early days for the Yoosk API and there are a host of things we want to improve and add so if you have any thoughts you'd like to share with us then please do tell us via developments@yoosk.com
Embedding interview features
Its easy to bring some of the inquiry and discussion from Yoosk into your own site. At Yoosk we run Interview Features which you can find on the Interviews index page. If you see an Interview Feature that you'd like to embed in your site you can simply take the code in the box below as a start and add the url of the Interview Feature you want into it with ?embedPage=true added onto the end of the relevant URL. This will then place the Yoosk Interview Feature inside an iframe that will automatically resize to fit the space you put it into in your site. Take a look at the following code for an example:
