Show more »is it right that I should pay tax on pension benefits deriving from Pensionable Service worked prior to the announcement of the HIERC rules - effectively retrospective taxation. This will mean that, above a certain threshold where HIERC kicks in, I am being asked to work for net pay of approximately "£nil". thus the only way to avoid paying the tax is to keep my income below the threshold - i.e to work less...this will mean I earn less, pay no HIERC and do not pay the circa 50% tax/ni that I would have paid on income I would have otherwise above the threshold. Not a very clever tax in that I lose, my employer loses much of me, and GBplc/HMRC loses, rather than gains tax revenue. Will you therefore adjust the HIERC rules such that pension benefits deriving from Pensionable Service worked prior to the announcement of the rules will not be subject to tax? Show less »
