Our troops are deployed on the ground in southern Afghanistan and fight some groups of Afghans in an attempt to enfore the rule of the Kabul government. This tactic costs a lot of British lives. So what evidence do we have that this specific and costly tactic is the best way of reducing the terrorist threat to Britain? Wouldn't a more discrete intelligence lead operation in Afghanistan and Pakistan against actual terrorist groups be more effective at protecting us, without the cost of killing and seriously injuring so many British soldiers?
