Show more »Vince Cable’s letter to local authority chief execs and business leaders asks: 1.Business leaders to come together to consider forming local enterprise partnerships 2.It proposes that responsibility for sector leadership, business support, access to finance and inward investment are to be handled nationally – not by local enterprise partnerships The business focus of local enterprise partnerships would appear to be the support of business start-ups, and working with local universities and colleges. Clarity on the following would be useful; 1.Which business leaders (or type) received this letter? 2.Who in business is to be consulted about the type of support BIS intends to provide nationally 3.The type of investors it aims to attract to the UK? I do not believe this cant be achieved with the will of parliament, just think if the oil goes to $100 again the uk will have additional income of at least an extra $80million a day from this levy/tax, $4 Billion a year. Just to say i have sent this plan/idea to labour and liberal and have had a typical reply which says nothing from the Treasury. Show less »

Show more »Why are the Pensions Credit Department so inefficient and incompetent? I was married on March 24th and more than four months later I am still waiting to receive my entitlement. My wife was born in Munich and it was nearly three months before they realised that she needed a National Insurance Number!! I have been provided with so much mis-information by the Pension Credit call centre on each occasion that I have phoned them that I have lost all confidence in their ability to even run a raffle. I am a full time carer for my wife, who has multiple sclerosis, and who is in a wheelchair (which the Pension Credit people know) and it would be my proposal that all carers should have their benefit claims fast-tracked. The financial needs of people who are as severely disabled as my wife are that much greater than those who are able-bodied. How are people in my position expected to pay their bills whilst the staff of the Pension Credit Department procrastinate every day, and in every way? Many thanks, in advance, for your time Regards Geoffrey Show less »
