They can do things like volunteer for the Treasury Select Committee and talk about standards of accounting for banks, which most people would have thought academic until Leman Brothers and Northern Rock collapsed, or they can appoint themselves as honorary local mayers and give opinions about doorstep issues that are usually decided by the council.

As a former vice president  of CityBank who did not volunteer for the select committe and spends a maximum amount of time on local issues, what do you think can be done to change MPs jobs in the next term? Do you think MPs should only be paid if they do detailed parliamentary work? Show less »
