We are all aware that that is the agenda and why it is happening now. After thirty plus years of steady reductions (and occassionally massive cuts - for example the strategic defence review of the early '90s) there's barely any fat in the system. Any significant cuts will remove a capability for example only ordering one aircraft carrier would mean that for much of the time we had no aircraft carrier at all. In many instances the savings would be small in comparison with the losses, for example, reducing the army by one brigade (roughly ten per cent) would remove our ability to rotate brigades through two theatres simultaneously or in other words halve our capability. So what is it that you think we may not need? Show less »
