However this will be... Show more »We are talking to the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service about the future of the Fire Station. One of the things on the table is, as you say, “just paying” for the service. However this will be an additional call on council tax. There is a risk that the price keeps going up year on year. Therefore running the service directly gives us more control in the long term. Running it directly means we can integrate it into the day to day business of the council and make some efficiency savings in areas like IT, payroll, etc. As you will appreciate there is no simple answer to the problem, but we are trying to negotiate a solution to save the night time cover in Windsor.
