I suffer with severe recurring earache. Every 2 or 3 months I have to see the Doctor and usually have to buy three prescriptions at £7.20 each (I am English). If I lived in Scotland or Northern Ireland I would pay £3 each, and if I was in Wales the prescriptions would be free. I work but I'm on a low wage. How is it fair that I as an English person have to pay so much more than people in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

My 80 year old mother has been in hospital for the last three months. To make matters worse she is really worried that she will have to sell her home to pay for nursing care. In Scotland, someone in the same situation would have their nursing care paid for by the state. I can only assume Scots can afford this because they get >£1500 more per person per year from central government than English people. Isn't it time to scrap the Barnett Formula and to give the people of England equal services to people in other areas of the "UK"?
