"According to the recent Place Survey figured collated by DCLG, approximately 30% of people in England agree that they can influence decisions in their local area. (This was 26% in Sandwell). - To what extent could citizen engagement through technology improve these results by 2011? "

"The Lib-dems are known to state that electoral reform is a pre-condition for any proposals to join government. The major sticking point seems to be about whether it would work in the UK, especially in General Elections. Why can't electoral reform itself be introduced incrementally. For instance, couldn't one region be given an allocation of MP's who are then elected by proportional representation?"

"Dear Secretary of State, I am writing with respect to the latest publication from Centre for Cities. This is entitled 'Sticking Plaster or Stepping Stone' and the URL has been provided at the end of this letter. The report questions the rationale behind the Future Jobs Fund at a critical time. It sets out an alternative list of hotspots which should recieve prioritised funding. For example, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton and Stoke would not require funding as much as Aldershot, Gloucester and Milton Keynes. I understand that it would be to each local authority to make the case for funding from the Future Jobs Fund. However, this report has some issues which will re-emerge during scrutiny of the policy. I believe it would be interesting to know what would happen if the Government did not intervene. Specifically, I would be grateful if you could set out DWP's own forecast for youth unemployment between 2009 and 2012 in line with the recession forecast by HM Treasury, and if the recession is more severe. Could you also publish the rationale behind the Future Jobs Fund intervention in response to this report. Was intervention based primarily upon the grounds of equity or efficiency? http://www.centreforcities.org/assets/files/09-06-23%20Youth%20unemployment.pdf "

I am concerned by the conclusions of this report and the fact that I live in an area quite badly impacted by worklessness.
Can the figures be published for the number of personal advisors employed (FTE) in Birmingham and at ward level?

"What have you been doing to help tackle rates of child poverty in Glasgow East? If the above answer includes a) freezing council tax b) abolishing prescription charges c) introducing free school meals to early years then please can you outline or signpost rigorous evidence to show that such policies have contributed towards reducing the percentage of children in low-income families. PS Why haven't you updated your occupation information to reflect that you were elected to become an MP?"

"Dear Gisela, There has been significant controversy over the planning application for the expansion of Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Whilst the local authority has been willing to even stump up £20m to finance this, it has led to significant distress. The fundamental disagreements went beyond local objections to asking serious questions about the governance of the local authority. This application is due to be called in for consideration by DCLG. What is your position regarding the planning application for the redevelopment of Edgbaston? Would you have written to the Secretary of State in support of the proposed development. What is your perspective on the way the application was dealt with, despite the misgivings of nearby residents. With due respect, I would like to know if you felt that the passage of events has been in line with the principles proposed in the White Paper "Communities in Control" Given the nature of its controversy, do you think the findings from the recent DCLG report "Empowering communities to influence local decision making" could be taken into consideration by the local authority?"
