Question

  1. Margaret Curran, During the 18 years of the Tories in power, they kept a tight squeeze on public sector pay. 6 months after being elected Gordon Brown made this statement, "public sector workers will have to accept inflation, or less than inflation wages rises for the foreseeable future". Bearing in mind MP's have awarded themselves wages rises of 26% etc, during the last ten years, when will the ordinary public sector worker get a half decent pay rise? Please don't answer times are hard and we all to suffer the pain, 2.5 % of an MP's salary is quite substansial, 2.5% of of an ordinary public sector workers pay is a pittance and we don't get subsidy's for food, drink, travel to work, or to furnish our own houses.
