How much more expensive would it be to employ sufficient numbers of Bin Men (Waste Disposal Operatives) to allow bins to be collected more than every four weeks when it snows? Add on the cost of employing people to clear the roads properly. Would decent civic services appall the right wing of his party? You know who they are - all those unpatriotic Tories who are trying to "break" society by not contributing to it through fair taxes. Show less »

We have enough bin men to empty the bins every week – this is done via our contractor Veolia. However during the snow there were some days when the bin lorries could not collect waste, either because running a 20 tonne truck down an icy, narrow residential street was dangerous, or because abandoned cars blocked the road. It would be worth noting that the Veolia team helped us in a number of ways, including running trucks to Cheshire to collect additional salt supplies, or gritting footpaths, etc. Show less »
