This is explicable and has been the case for many years but this was in the past balanced, mainly, with a good proportion of military staff with the requisite experience. The ongoing OEP and SRR within DE&S appears to be ripping out the majority of the military manpower, as such staff are typically more expensive than their civilian counterparts. From my perspective as a 'customer' of DE&S is that this is purely a cost-saving exercise with scant regard for supporting operational capability effectively - the Front Line Commands have not been, and are not being, consulted and consequently the entire risk (both operational and financial) sits with them not DE&S. Will the SDSR look at the most effective way to support operations, and their preparations, and fully resource the support area where it is believed that the cuts have been too deep - even if it costs more in some areas?
