Is it the Conservatives policy to review the numer of Service Families Accomodation available in the UK.  As families we under increased pressure to move every time our spouse's are posted due to lack of housing, and the inflexibility of the JSP 464 rules on retention.  This means uprooting our lives on average every two years.  Now this may be acceptable to some, but I have a career and  my children's education suffers every time we move.  It is important I can continue in my career so that i can support my husband when he leaves the army.  We are living in modern times, the typical army wife is no longer the housewife who can be moved around with little disruption.  Not least the cost to the taxpayer to move us each time.  Defence Estates do not show any compassion and we find them extremely unhelpful.  My husband will be in Afghanistan from April, he was told about this in January, we are being made to move to Catterick Garrison as we were not permitted to retain our quarter so we now have to spend my husbands leave moving house, stressful enough with him going away for 6 months dont you think?  And to give up my job and move my childrens schooling again to move to an area where we do not know anyone and have no family nearby, i find that this is expectation is just a step too far and we are not being treated as a family of the soldier who is going to fight for his country but merely a number.  My story is not in isolation, many families are experiencing the same issues.  This is not the treatment we should expect from the modern army.
