Exocet at Aug 17 2007 12:00:00 AM It is now becoming clear that ASH and ASH Scotland pressured politicians into believing the ( unproven ) dangers of Second Hand Smoke ( SHS )and even now are still stating that ventilation/filtration systems would do little to remedy the situation, still quoting old reports as evidence. Modern systems of ventilation and air filtration would make the air in a room full of smokers cleaner than the air outside. It is time that a review of the evidence on which the Smoking ban was based is undertaken and the opportunity given to those opposing the ban to state their case.More information is available at Freedom2Choose.co.uk .
peterthurgood at Aug 17 2007 12:00:00 AM I agree with you 100% But getting the truth accross to a population which has been brainwashed and lied to by a corrupt government is another thing. I am however, like thousands of others, working on it.
Exocet at Aug 21 2007 12:00:00 AM If you think the Smoking ban is the end of the restrictions on Smokers there is a Conference taking place in Edinburgh on 10th/11th September 2007 entitled " Towards a Smokefree Society ". There will be representatives from the World Health Organisation, ASH Scotland and a variety of Government Officials from both England and Scotland. No doubt this collection of unelected Anti-Smokers will be putting pressure on the UK Government and Scottish Executive to continue their demonisation of Smokers by further restrictions and the raising of tax on tobacco. What has happened to Democracy in this country, why are they so scared of allowing Freedom of Choice and letting pubs and clubs decide whether they want to be Smoking or Non-Smoking. A demonstration against this conference is being arranged and hopefully they will get the message that this is one group NOT welcome in Scotland. Politicians should also remember that Smokers are voters as well.
